Getting schooled by mom, and learning when to quit.

I was able to attend two games this week. I went to JsBlevis game on Tuesday with E after work, mostly because I won at Steves house on Sunday, and two because Ive had a bitch of an itch lately to play.

Got to Jeffs a little early, and waited for the place to fill up to play. While we were waiting, two nice older ladies showed up with wraps and sandwiches for the game, I took them for some ladies in the area that Jeff knew, and they were providing him a service. But, much to my surpise they sat down, and told me and E they were going to play the game, wow, I thought to myself, I bet these ladies are gamblers, and Im gonna get paid by one of them tonight. Ha, right.

Anyways, the game saw me check in the dark on one of the first few hands, only to see my top two pair, become a fullhouse. This looked promising for me, as a flush draw, and straight draw were now on the board, and I had Dave, and one of Jeffs friends in the hand with me, about to pay off my checked dark boat. Here is how the rest of the hand proceeded.

Board shows 9/A/7, two clubs.

Turn brings another 7, giving me sevens full.

I bet out about 50 on the turn, hoping someone chases a flush draw, possible open ended, maybe a gutshot.

Call, call....yes, Im getting paid here.

River brings a final club, irrelevant of the number.

I say, all in. Jeffs friend thinks, folds. Dave gives me a funny look, and says I gotta call.

I ask, did you get there? I have a boat, Dave gives me a suprised look, and says, no flush, I have a boat too. He flips over pocket 9's for nines full, trumping my sevens full. DAMN! I thought he was chasing, I was so sure I was getting paid.

Had to rebuy another hunsky from Jeff, and proceeded to get a little over 100 dollars profit over my initial buyin, and rebuy.

Later on in the evening, found me trying to bluff Jeffs friend, Saads mom off here third pair, but she wasnt having any of it, and I dropped about 75 to her, while she called me down with her pair of Queens.

Last hand of the night saw me bang my stack in the middle with A/10 after the board came Q/10/Q, giving me bottom pair, top kicker, only to see it checked around to me, I bang my stack thinking no one has a queen, nope, Jeffs buddy has the queen, and checked it, probably knowing I was going to get aggresive if I hit the flop. I dont improve with a flush draw, and straight draw, and Im done for the night.

Went to E's friday game of limit games, because we all like breaking the monotony of playing NLHE all the time.

Game started out great for me, saw me getting smacked around by the deck, hitting every other hand possible for a win, the Omaha Hi kill pots were awesome for me, saw me hitting five in a row and getting paid off handsomely. I was up almost 500 dollars from my initial buyin, knowing I had atleast 350 of my own money, because Ricky loaned me a meatball to get into the game.
Things were looking awesome for me, I was laying down hands instead of chasing, I was filling up, and catching open enders just like I needed, I was making my flushes, and pretty much swimming in a sea of pink chips. E uses pink chips to simulate the pink chip game that the Taj? has? I might be wrong about the casino, check my comments incase someone corrects me to make sure.

So, the night was going good, I intended on leaving around midnight, so I could get home in time to get enough sleep so I could wake up with my kids in the morning. Life was good. But, then two things happened that ruined my night.

Peter showed up.

I didnt leave at midnight like I intended to.

Thats right, a local player from md-poker boards named Peter(GeorgiaAve) showed up late around eleven after seeing Snakes on a Plane. Now, I like Pete, hes a funny guy, makes good conversation, plays a good game, and is just all around fun, sometimes. My only problem with Pete happen to be two things that really fuck up my game. One, hes my cooler, any time Pete is at a game, or shows up to a game, I immediately go on some kind of quasi-tilt, and hemorrhage chips, and two, he has a horeshose stuck up his four clover leafed ass.

Tonight definetely did not dissapoint.

Pete saw himself get rivered during Stud Hi/Lo to make the nut flush, beating my two pair, and no one having a low to scoop a massive pink pot. Taking quite a few from me.

The rest of the night saw me pushing, and chasing, trying to win hands that I did not need to be in, simply because I was on tilt because of losing the nice profit I had collected earlier in the night.

So, sometime around two in the morning, back down a little below my initial buy in for the night, saw me kind of getting put on the spot between Me, E, and Ricky. Some words were spoken, I was frustrated from the night, and got a little embarrased at what just happened, and being pissed at myself for not leaving earlier. So,I left my chips on the table, put me shoes on, and walked out. I had enough for the night. I need to listen to myself, and stop when Im ahead, and when I intend to leave. Last night could have been great.

Bloop...Bloop...Bloop goes the week...

Sorry its been a bit since I last posted, I know all of you are starving for my wonderful insight towards my sad world of poker existence. I hope I dont dissapoint with my following story for the week, enjoy.

Ive been playing alot on BoDog recently, I love playing the 50 dollars SnG's. Some tell me thats a waste of money, but I love playing heads up, and its quick money, without alot of hassle, very cut and dry in my honest opinion, so I frequent these lovely money making debacles all the time.
This week was no different, I quickly turned my 20 dollar buy in to a little over 300 dollars in the span of two hours. All in a days work for me. Online poker can be awesome, if you tiptoe through the donkeys.

As I was saying, Ive been playing alot online, so I decided to cash out some money from my account, but I ran into a small problem. I wanted to play some lives games this week, and I could really use some of that money, but I couldnt figure out a quicker way to get cash in hand.????? Aha, lightbulb! I decided to play a 100 dollar SnG with my boss, let me donk off a quick hunsky to him, and its like an ATM machine. Step one in my plan works to perfection, sort of.

That step one I was talking about came on a Thursday, unfortunately
  • E
  • talked me into playing some 1/2 with the
  • donkeycorral
  • . Ok, no problem, I only have to show up at work by seven in the morning, so let me get a few hours in and have some poker fun.

We arrive early, to find that the game is not going to go off as planned. Four players show up, so we decide to start shorthanded. Ok, not a problem, lets do this.

    One hour later.......

    Bessman:raise
    E:call
    Nelly: call

    flop: J/9/3

    Bessman:check
    E:all you can eat baby
Nelly:How much? 51? Not good enough, make it 102.

    Bessman: A duh, a duh, a duh.
Trav:(heissman stance) You can fold bessman
    Bessman: I call

    E: I got J/9, you got a set Nelly?
    Nelly:Yeah
    E:Shit
    Bessman:damn(showing pocket aces)

    Turn= Blank
    River= Blank

Ok, Nellys knocked out two players, 1/2 game over. Someone hit the reset button.

So, after Nelly proceeded to take almost 70-80% of the money on the table. We decide to play some low limit dealers choice. Game was fun, I finally, for the love of God learned how to push, raise, call, and check down a nut low(to the much irritated expressions of Trav, yelling,"this fucking guy, how does he get there? And why does he check it?")

Pretty good night, I only lose just under a meatball, and tell E Ill get him back on Friday.

Then the week starts to get interesting...

Steves posts his thread advertising his regular Sunday game. Pops, a local md-poker player, decides hes going to come out and support the game. This leads Steve, knowing that Me and Pops have a very volatile love hate relationship, to state that I should come out, to make the game more interesting.

This is where mistake number one comes in...

I tell Pops that I intend on coming to the game because I can suck out on him something fierce. This in turn leads to the regular internet sparring matches me and Pops have before and after each game. Its fun, most of the time its alot of good ribbing, and joaning, comebacks here and there. But this one got quite heated and personal between Pops, Redpit(Mikey), and I. Almost to the point where I was ready to hurt someone. Luckily it died down a bit when some cooler heads put some two cents in and told us boys to play nice in the schoolyard.

Dont get me wrong, I got nuthin but love for Mikey and Pops, but its a love hate relationship. Theyre arent close personal friends, but I like them enough to claim them as friends. They just happen to be two friends that make me want to jump up a wall when we get into it. Ah, well, I guess thats life.

Off to Steves fish tank for a nice, sunny, Sunday afternoon....

I arrive at Steves, and almost immediately get down to business. Caught two hands early, that saw me calling some insane bluffs, and quickly ran my stack up to almost double my initial buyin. Pops, and Mikey were at the table with me, but niether one of them could rib me, because I was making all my money on the table early on, and they were waiting in the wings, for the chance to strike.

That strike came a little before ten or so. Im in the small blind, waiting for my chance to act. Couple of limps around to me, I call. Pops decides to reraise for another 25 on top(per Pops account on md-poker.com). Folds around me, I decide to call.

    Flop:2/3/9 of clubs.

    Me: I check Pops
Pops: I have aces, so I make it 50 to go
Me: You really have Aces Pops?
Pops: I have Aces, with the nut club, and steel wheel draw.
Me: Really? Ok, Im all in.
Pops:( a minute of thinking) I call.
    Me: I got the nutflush.
    Pops:........................................................................................................................

And there you have a it ladies and gentlemen, no need to any further, except to say, I cashed out a little under 800, and Pops and Mikey walked away with nada. Se La Vi.
